You step into the arena and are told to greet a horse and come back when you are finished.
What happens inside you from this point forward is the experiential component of equine assisted therapy.
Some people see a large, powerful animal, unpredictable and unapproachable. Others see a horse that is uninterested in their greeting. Still others, find the horse to be timid and shy or easily startled. Others yet find the horse to be curious and inviting.
What you experience and how you respond to this experience is what allows the treatment team to address your unique challenges and obstacles. Taking you just beyond your comfort zone opens opportunities to experience yourself engaging an obstacle and finding new ways of problem solving!
This brief, reality theory approach offers a treatment plan including pre and post assessment to track your progress and change.
